Getting rid of carpet stains

August 23, 2007

Thank God for hardwood and tile floors.  I haven’t had carpet in my home in many years, and one of the reasons for that was I simply got tired of stain removal, vacuuming, cleaning and shampooing it.  It seemed that the more time and money I spend on making it look good, the more it got messed up (and trust me, you can spend a pretty penny keeping carpets clean).  For those of you who still have it (and there’s nothing wrong with that), here are some tips on how to keep it clean on the cheap.  I for one, still suggest getting rid of it :)

Tiny Todo

August 23, 2007

My to-do list is so long the chances of marking off every item is slim-to-none.  The problem isn’t that I’m overworked or stretched to thin, the problem is prioritization.  Enter the tiny todo list.  It doesn’t replace the list you have now, it allows you to be a little more organized within that list.  Check it out, I’m planning on starting mine today.

Batch work

August 23, 2007

I don’t know about you, but every once in a while I like to go through my computer, and get rid of the flotsam and jetsam of programs installed.  I figure if I haven’t used it in six months, I’m probably not going to need it in the near future.  The problem with this process (until now) is only being able to uninstall one program at a time, and not being able to start another uninstall until the previous is finished.  That problem is no more with the Absolute Uninstaller.  This program allows you to select which programs you want to uninstall, add them to a queue, and walk away knowing that when you come back, your computer will be a little lighter on the HD side.

Better note taking for students

August 23, 2007

Wikis have become more and more popular for everything from online encyclopedias to company intranets. One section that is starting to become more and more populated with wiki-use is note taking. Students would be wise to use the power and inherent organizational structures in the wiki arsenal. The following are the reasons for, and a little how-to action on getting started.
