iGoogle FTW!

September 6, 2007

(That’s “For The Win”, by the way) I started using iGoogle almost the second (okay, so it was a day or two) it came out, and I instantly fell in love with it.  Every computer I own and/or use on a regular basis has iGoogle as the start page.  There is SO much stuff that you can do with it, that a person could never (okay, most-likely-never) get bored with it.  Add to that the growing list of GTD, personal organization and productivity apps coming out almost daily, and it just keeps getting better.

Priority Pyramid

September 5, 2007

Everyone has a different priority at work.  Some are happy being at the bottom of the proverbial totem-pole, some want to be the boss, and others only aspire to middle management.  This can actually be plotted out on a pyramid, and believe it or not, your goals my have an effect on how you perform.

Comfortable Confrontation

September 5, 2007

Some people thrive on confrontation, and some shy away from it, but it can sometimes be a necessary evil, especially if you work in a “team” setting and not all the players are pulling their weight.  Confrontation doesn’t have to be something out of a WWE script, however.  There are ways to minimize the tension and make it a productive experience.

Blogging GTD

September 4, 2007

It’s been said (yet, I’ve found no actual research) that a lot of traffic to blog sites is by other bloggers.  While it’s true that if you take an group of niche sites, you’ll find a certain amount of “recycled content” throughout the blogs, there is a lot of original content out there that keeps me from thinking that statement is TOTALLY true.  Now, from the “practice what you preach department”, we finally have some advice/suggestions FOR bloggers, and how to use a GTD-esque system to make your on-line life a little easier.  I started doing some of these things weeks ago with some of my other blogs, and can tell you that in my case, it has helped somewhat.

Be a Productivity Pig

September 4, 2007

I recently stumbled upon a great site for productivity, GTD, and general geekery called Web Worker Daily. One of the posts that caught my eye right off the bat was called “Cut the fat to lean productivity”, and has some great tips on getting focused and getting things done when they need to be done.
